The Jimmy & Jack CIC will be giving further backing to local grassroots football in May, by sponsoring the Carlton Town Juniors Festival of Football.

Taking place on the weekend of Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May, the event will see teams of under-7s, under-8s and under-9s compete in 5-a-side and 7-a-side games, dependent on age band, with the winners claiming the Jimmy & Jack CIC Memorial Trophy.

The sponsorship strengthens the Jimmy & Jack CIC’s commitment to helping young aspiring footballers in the Nottinghamshire area in the name of two great advocates of youth football, Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler, the legendary former coaching partnership of Notts County Football Club.

Another Notts legend, Brian Stubbs, who will be on hand to present the trophies to the winning teams over the weekend, was delighted that his former manager’s legacy is being recognised in this way.

“Jimmy and Jack both lived for football and I know Jimmy particularly would have loved to have witnessed a load of youngsters playing 5-a-side – he relished these type of games,” enthused the former Notts defender.

Teams from across the region are due to take place in the festival, which takes place at Carlton Town’s Stoke Lane ground, with two under-9s competitions an under-8s and an under-7s all taking place across the weekend.

Supporters wanting to come along to the festival can do so, with adult admission just £1, including a programme, and under-16s free.

There is free parking on site and refreshments will be available, including hot food, hot and cold drinks and a bar.
