Saturday 10th May 2014 was the start of a 2-day 5-a-side Festival of Football, hosted by Carlton Town Juniors FC that include over 300 players representing teams at Under-7s, Under-8s and Under-9s.

The event was exceptionally well-supported, including attendances from Notts County legend Brian Stubbs, Councillor Meredith Lawrence (Deputy Mayor of Gedling) and his wife, Wendy; Councillor Bob Collis (Ex-Mayor of Gedling) and Jimmy & Jack CIC’s operations director Kevin Searcey.

Kevin explains the significance of the event: “Jimmy & Jack CIC was setup to create a lasting legacy to Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler and I’m sure they would have been really proud to have witnessed so many young players enjoying themselves today – especially playing for the inaugural Jimmy & Jack CIC Memorial Trophy; which was won by Carlton Town Under-9s.”

The success of the event was further endorsed by CTFC Juniors’ Chair Jamie Baddeley, who added: “A great day had by all. It was great seeing the children and parents enjoying such a great event. It makes it all worthwhile doing what we do.”
